About Jigsaw Moon
Jigsaw Moon is a drag-and-drop jigsaw puzzle game for young children. Each puzzle is a bright cartoon picture, like a cat, a fire engine, a castle or a rocket, cut into real jigsaw-shaped pieces. Drag a piece onto its spot on the board and it snaps into place with a happy pop.
The first puzzles have just 4 big pieces and a clear picture to follow, so even toddlers can finish one. As your child goes on, puzzles grow to 6, 8, 9 and 12 pieces, and later to 16 and 20, while the faded hint picture slowly disappears. There are 40 pictures in five colours each, and the levels never run out.
How to play Jigsaw Moon
- Look at the faded picture on the board: it shows where everything goes.
- Drag a piece from the tray onto its place. If it's close enough, it snaps in.
- A piece in the wrong place slides gently back to the tray, so you can try again.
- Tap ๐ to see the whole picture for a moment if you get stuck.
- Finish every piece to complete the picture and move on to the next one.
What children learn
- Shape recognitionMatching the bumps and holes of each piece to its neighbours.
- Visual thinkingUsing colours and parts of the picture to work out where a piece belongs.
- Fine motor skillsDragging and dropping pieces accurately with a finger or mouse.
- PatienceSticking with a bigger puzzle until the whole picture appears.

Levels and difficulty
Puzzles start with 4 pieces and grow to 6, 8, 9 and then 12 by level 200. From level 1000 they have 16 pieces, and from level 2000, 20. The hint picture fades as the levels go up, and pieces must be dropped closer to their spot. Progress is saved, so Continue picks up at the next puzzle.
Tips for parents and teachers
- With younger children, name the picture together before you start: "It's a cat! Where is its tail?"
- Encourage starting with the corners and edges, like a real jigsaw.
- Let them use ๐ freely at first; as they get confident, try a puzzle without it.
