About Shape Quest
Shape Quest is a puzzle game with two kinds of logic and spatial puzzle that take turns. In Fit, children drag, turn and flip pieces to fill a silhouette like a house, a rocket or an owl with no gaps. In Pipes, they turn tiles until the water flows from the tap through every pipe to all the flowers, with no leaks.
Each round the puzzles get bigger and trickier: Fit starts with three pieces and grows to eight, some of which need flipping, and Pipes grows from a small 3 by 3 garden to a big 8 by 9 one. The first levels suit children from about 8, and the later ones are a real challenge for teenagers and adults. A hint does one step when someone is stuck, and solving a level without hints wins three stars.
How to play Shape Quest
- Tap Play to start at your next level, or pick one kind of puzzle to practise.
- Fit: drag the pieces into the shape and tap a piece, or the Turn button, to turn it. Later levels have a Flip button too.
- Pipes: tap a pipe to turn it, until the water reaches every flower with no leaks.
- Undo takes back a move, Start again resets the puzzle and Hint does one step for you.
What children learn
- Spatial reasoningTurning and flipping shapes in your head to see where they fit.
- Logical thinkingUsing what must be true, like a corner pipe that can only point inwards, to rule out wrong answers.
- Planning aheadWorking out where the awkward pieces go before filling the gaps.
- Patience and persistenceTrying an idea, checking it and trying another when it doesn't work.

Levels and difficulty
The levels take turns between Fit and Pipes, and every round makes them harder. Fit grows from a 3-piece square to 8-piece silhouettes where pieces must be flipped, and Pipes grows from a 3 by 3 garden to 8 by 9.
Tips for parents and teachers
- In Fit, place the awkward pieces first and leave the small ones for the gaps.
- In Pipes, start at the edges and corners, where pipes can only point inwards.
- Play the first few levels together and talk about the plan before moving anything.
