About Star Slinger
Star Slinger is a slingshot game about judging distance and direction. Children pull the rock back to set the power and pull to the side to aim, just like a real slingshot, then let go to fire. After each shot the game says what to change, like "Too short" or "A bit to the left".
Each game is 10 shots at a target that moves to a new spot every time. Switch on wind, a moving target, or both, to make it trickier.
How to play Star Slinger
- Pull the rock down and back: the further you pull, the further it flies.
- Pull to the side to aim. Pull left to shoot right, and right to shoot left.
- Let go to fire, then read the tip about your shot.
- Hit the bullseye for 10 points. A game is 10 shots, up to 100 points.
What children learn
- Estimating distanceJudging how hard to pull for each target.
- Direction and anglesLearning that pulling left shoots right.

Levels and difficulty
Easy has big, close targets; Medium smaller, further targets; Hard small, far targets. Wind and a moving target can be switched on at any difficulty, and get stronger and faster on harder levels.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Ask your child to guess how far away the target is using the distance lines.
- Try a game with wind and talk about why the rock drifts.
Star Slinger questions
What do the extras do?
