About Magic Pencil
Magic Pencil is a finger-drawing puzzle game where every level is a different kind of puzzle. Lead an animal through a maze to its treat, join matching pictures with lines that never cross, mow every square of a lawn in one go without touching the flowers, trace a picture in one line without going over a line twice, and draw the missing half of a mirror picture.
The five kinds take turns, so there's always something new, and each one grows bigger and trickier as children go. A hint button shows the next steps when someone is stuck, and solving a level without hints wins three stars. Every puzzle is made fresh but always has an answer, so the levels never run out.
How to play Magic Pencil
- Tap Play to start at your next level, or pick one kind of puzzle to practise.
- Read the task at the top, then draw with your finger or the mouse.
- Drag back along your line, or tap Undo, to take back a step. Start again clears the puzzle.
- Tap Hint to see the next steps. Solve a level without hints for 3 stars.
- After each level, the next one is a different kind of puzzle.

Levels and difficulty
The levels take turns between Maze, Connect, Mow, One line and Mirror. The first ones are tiny, like a 4 by 5 maze or three pairs to join, so children from about 5 can play, and every round of five makes the puzzles bigger: mazes up to 10 by 13 squares, nine pairs on an 8 by 8 grid and long one-line pictures that challenge grown-ups too.
Tips for parents and teachers
- Play the first few levels together and talk about the plan before drawing.
- In One line puzzles, a dot with an odd number of lines is the best place to start.
- In Mow puzzles, try to go around the edges first so no square gets cut off.
Magic Pencil questions

What are the five kinds of puzzle?
Maze, where you lead an animal to its treat; Connect, where you join matching pairs without crossing lines; Mow, where you cover every square once; One line, where you trace a picture in one stroke; and Mirror, where you draw the other half of a picture.
